This was the air force train that we see derail in the movie. It most likely started its journey at Battle Mountain, Nevada and its destination was most likely Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. However, the train derails in Lillian, Ohio and the air force shows up right afterwards under the command of Colonel Nelec. During the derailment the alien escapes and the movie storyline really picks up.
